Artist Statement
Handmade in Chattanooga, TN from locally sourced copper, brass, and steel. Modern indie jewelry that exemplifies traditional femininity and uncommon fortitude
In 2012 my younger brother Ethan opened M&N Recycling, a secondary processor of both ferrous and non ferrous metals located in Cleveland, TN. I spent many summer days exploring experimenting and learning the tricks of the trade. Our pieces are handmade, one of a kind, and assembled in small quantities.
Why SPUN?
As an artist in any craft I believe we each have our own story to tell and our own very unique "spin" to put on anything we do...in that process you make it your own. I specialize in reclaimed metal pieces and work primarily with copper, brass, and steel. The signature SPUN look is created with force patination and homemade recipes. This unique process brings diversity to my collection—recipes are brought to life with basic chemistry, metallurgy, and jewelry making techniques. I learned my craft from a series of skilled tradesmen in many fields and over many years. I strive to achieve uniqueness and put my “spin” on vintage indie flare and trending fashion. I hope my jewelry will connect with you—visually, emotionally, and that my production process will leave a small environmental impact along the way.
