Company/Business Jason Stoddart Photography
Artist Statement Stoddart’s photographs take a critical view of America, the unique history, cultural heritage, and political issues that define it as a country. His philosophy, there is always a story to tell and a history to preserve. While his work focuses on capturing subjects that represent the true America, oftentimes, the subjects of his photographs are forgotten parts of our past. It is his hope that, as a photographer, he can preserve pieces of history and viewers can reflect and consider the changes that life has to offer. “My photographs document traditional Americana culture while utilizing conventional styles of photography. My “Americana” is defined as the history, geography, folklore, and cultural heritage of the United States. Many kinds of material fall within this definition of Americana: license plates or entire vehicles, barns, homes, or household objects, artifacts, tools, instruments, flags, plaques, signs, and so on. All my work is printed and presented using the best archival materials available; materials held to the same standard of excellence as those used by museums.” Stoddart’s photographs can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide, including most recently, the permanent collection of the Tennessee State Museum, The Union Station Hotel and The Omni; all located in Nashville, Tennessee. Jason resides on the Cumberland Plateau in Middle Tennessee with his wife and two children.
