Tennessee Craft – Southwest

Tennessee Craft – Southwest (formerly MACA) covers Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby and Tipton counties, and is open to everyone interested in fine craft from the beginner to the most accomplished. Artists, students, gallery owners, schools, guilds, co-ops and appreciators are welcome to join. This active chapter is committed to promoting local craft. Shoppers and collectors find our work at craft fairs, trunk shows, art galleries and museums. Member meetings with guest speakers and various outings help individuals succeed and find support in our region.

Summer Member Meeting

Along with the usual socialization and fun, we will have Greg Belz on hand to walk us through the process of applying to a craft show. He will touch on booth photography, how to best position and show your work, what the jurors will be looking for, and other things that you may or may not know about.

Tennessee Craft- Southwest is hosting a two-day craft and art pop-up shop at the Jay Etkin Gallery as part of Tennessee Craft Week. This is an opportunity to show Memphis the best of your art and craft. Selected artists will have a 6×6’ floor space to set up a booth. Artists conduct their own sales for this event. Show hours coincide with Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch traffic in the Cooper-Young area, and the show will be advertised in nearby restaurants. Tennessee Craft Week is a collection of craft events and happenings across the state to connect and celebrate Craft Artists, the work they create, and the businesses that support them.

To apply, please submit the completed application, images, and $25 application/jury fee by August 1st. Notification of acceptance will be August 14th. After notification, you will need to pay the $75 booth fee by August 21. Failure to pay on time will release the booth spot to the waitlist.

Tennessee Craft Southwest Maker’s Event
October 11, 2018

6:00 – 8:00 PM
Location: Belltower Artisans

Tennessee Craft Southwest, in partnership with Memphis’ Belltower Artisans, will hold a makers event in support of the Memphis Empty Bowls Project. The event will be a creative group gathering to produce soup bowls for donation to the upcoming Empty Bowls charity event (all proceeds are used to fight hunger throughout the Mid-South).

​​Tennessee Craft-Southwest members produce fine craft in a dazzling array of media and styles. Show your best work in the Tennessee Fine Craft Showcase at WKNO Gallery Ten Ninety-One. Judges from the local art scene will select winners for $700 in prizes. Each artist may submit up to 5 pieces. All members are encouraged to participate.

   Entry Deadline: Tuesday, May 15, 2018
   Drop off Work: Friday, June 1, 2018, 12-4pm
   Opening Date: Sunday, June 3, 2018
   Artists’ Reception: Sunday, June 3, 2018, 2-4pm

Jewish Community Center Collaborations Show

The fourth annual Collaborations Show at the Memphis Jewish Community Center!  Our members have teamed up to create the most amazing collaborative works, which will then be showcased in JCC’s gallery for the month of April in 2018.  There’s nothing like it in the tri-state area.
