Artist Statement
“Growing up in a remote area of Appalachia has played a vital role in the focus of my art. Through personal relationships, I am preserving the vanishing rural culture I am surrounded by, photographing everyday life, places, and people. I focus on rustic simplicity, finding art in the way we live, in the way things are, rather than the way we think they should be.”
Jason presents his photographs using an acid-free canvas, elegantly textured featuring a semi-gloss satin surface. The artwork is printed in limited edition using the best archival materials in his studio. Jason sources materials from a local sawmill to personally handcraft wood frames to present his fine art photography. He then finishes each wood frame with a dark walnut stain and wax.
The award-winning artwork of Jason Stoddart is found in private and corporate collections worldwide, including recently, the permanent collection of the Tennessee State Museum, the Omni Nashville Hotel, and Union Station Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. He resides on the Cumberland Plateau in Middle Tennessee with his wife and two children.
