Artist Statement
Jim's copper creations have graced the homes and gardens of customers throughout the United States and abroad for more than 40 years. The idea of garden art transpired after installing a water fountain and garden area at his former home in Asheville, North Carolina after relocating from Buffalo, New York. Beginning as a blacksmith after completing several courses offered at John C. Campbell and Pen land Art School, he later switched to copper due to its ease in manipulation and light weight. Jim's personality is captured in each whimsical piece. He would never admit any of his days are filled with work, but fun creating. Two of his favorite quotes include, "Now is the time", and "Loving what you do means you never have to work a day in your life". Although he divides his days in two working endlessly, his attitude and mannerism are light and fun. You will always catch him with a smile on his face; not too difficult when you love what you do each day, seven days a week.
