Artist Statement
Kim Everett holds a BS degree in Chemistry; she taught IB, AP, and Honors Chemistry in public and private schools for 37 years before retiring. Upon retiring Kim discovered the art of designing and creating jewelry. After two years of study (books, the internet and classes in techniques) and practice, last year she began showing her work at art festivals and fairs. Kim placed second in her very first show.
Working in her studio Kim can get lost in the process of creating... losing all track of time. Names are given to most of her jewelry pieces. At times a stone that she sees as extraordinary will be carried in her pocket for several days before she sees how to enhance something beautiful that nature has made.
Kim teaches polymer clay jewelry making at a local Memphis Senior Center.
