Artist Statement
We create wheelthrown and handbuilt stoneware pottery which is inspired by our deep love of nature. Our desire is to capture a brief moment in time, an often unnoticed glimpse as a leaf has fallen and landed upon a surface. As off-trail hikers, we are blessed with many such moments. Located outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we work in our woodland studio and make a variety of functional ware featuring: fermentation and sourdough jars, serving platters, casseroles and place settings, as well as decorative tiles and tile murals. Our work begins with real leaves to decorate each piece by hand. We glaze our pottery with our own formulated non-toxic glazes and fire to over 2200 degrees.
