Artist Statement
Designs by R and R is a husband and wife team from Sylvan Springs Alabama that was born out of love for creating wearable, artistic, visibly handcrafted jewelry.
Being self-taught with over 33 years’ experience Roger and Renae combine old and new techniques of metal smithing and lapidary to create one of a kind pieces. Starting with sketches we use 14k and 18k rose, yellow and white gold along with sterling silver, brass, PMC clay and copper to create the backdrop for our signature pieces. We then let our hand cut cabochon stones and metal tell us where to go using only the finest gemstone, diamonds and pearls to accent our designs. We strive to create a marriage of texture and color to awaken all the senses of the wearer.
As the years go by, our work evolves and just like nature it is always changing, growing as we explore new paths. We love making pieces that are meant to look like they have been around forever, a Rustic Elegance!
