Inspired by her uncle, Tammy O’Connor chose to follow in his footsteps as a professional photographer. To that end, she studied design, color and composition at The Art Institute of Atlanta, graduating with a degree in photography. Though intrigued by playing with light and composition, the medium didn’t feel like a fit. Later introduced to stained glass and still able to play with light and color, she found her place.
Tammy says, “It’s my desire that my life’s work be an inspiration for the world to experience the joy and beauty of sunlight and color dancing together, to be quieted and calmed by it, to be still and know God.” Her portfolio includes works both large and small, adorning churches, residences and businesses in the U.S., Canada and Germany.
Knowing our society is fast paced and always on the move, Tammy has found her smaller pieces of art are a good fit for most lifestyles. She has worked with glass since 1985 and has twice been awarded the James C Whitney Memorial Scholarship by the American Glass Guild. She has attended Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Appalachian Center for Craft.
