Event Details:
Colleen will be demonstrating the simplicity of hand building with slabs to make complex-looking work. Using low-tech tools (razors, ribs and rulers), she will construct a few rectilinear, hollow-form, dimensional sculptures. She will also create a series of lidded boxes demonstrating basic hand building tools such as hump molds, sprig molds, thumb wheels, small clay extruders and stencils. Although the boxes require many steps to complete, they can be constructed fairly quickly and the steps can be viewed in progression from slab to decorated greenware.
