Craft artist Felicitas Sloves will be demonstrating the art of weaving at the I-40 Welcome Center in Memphis on October 6, 2018.October 6th, 2018

Felicitas Sloves is a handweaver and weaving instructor with nearly 40 years of experience working as a fiber artist. When demonstrating the craft of weaving, she usually weaves on two different types of looms to illustrate the breadth of the handwoven object. She has a 4 harness table loom which she operates with hand controlled levers. On this 4 harness loom, Felicitas weaves fabric which can be transformed into functional objects such as clothing and accessories, placemats and pillow tops and even fabric to be constructed into jewelry. The second loom used in demonstrating is a small tapestry loom on which she weaves artistic pieces that can be framed as wall hangings. She always engages her audience when demonstrating by describing the weaving process, offering historical background and discussing her personal journey as a handweaver.
