Pete was born and raised in Asuncion Paraguay by German parents until he was eight. His father had a tool and die shop that he loved hanging out in to watch his Dad make things on the machinery. Then in 1958 they immigrated to Traverse City, Michigan area where Pete ï¬nished out school and college.
Pete became an airline pilot. His passion was anything mechanical, working with his hands and a little adventure. Now retired from Delta airlines after 33 years of flying around the world he is spending most of his time on the lathe applying the forms and shapes he has experienced from cultures around the globe. One of the ï¬rst things he turned was a baby rattle for his son in 1983 and he has never stopped turning since. Pete’s passion in turning is form. Well executed form never gets old. It’s presence captivates and ï¬lls you with awe. Pete’s passion is to create that kind of powerful elegant form in each piece he turns.
