Artist Statement
My work is primarily focused on creating handmade utilitarian ceramics with a modern aesthetic. I strive to constantly refine my work, always looking for subtle improvements to make my pieces worthy of a place in another person’s home or life. This can be something as fundamental as working to design the ideal handle for a coffee mug, one that’s both visually meaningful and comfortable to hold, considering the finish of a glaze that will be most pleasing to the touch, or the act of developing my own glazes to achieve the subtle manipulations of color that can make a single piece stand out or a collection work together. Currently my work includes dinner and serving-ware, mugs and cups, vases, and functional sculptural work.
