Artist Statement
Some of my work is functional, while other pieces are introspective and cathartic. I'm attracted to techniques that involve skill, problem solving, and repetitive movements. I discovered tapestry crochet in Guatemala in the 1970's. Since then, I have developed a number of innovations, including felted, beaded, and flat tapestry crochet techniques, which I share in my publications. In addition to tapestry crochet, I also weave and work with clay, wood, metal, glass, and photography.
