Artist Statement
I'm retired, and although I do not consider myself a professional, I have chosen to use my woodturning skills as a retirement hobby, creating gifts for family and friends, and as a ministry that enables me to create funds that I can donate entirely to local charities. I'm passionate about woodturning as a craft and art form, and I love the thrill of creating unique pieces -- whether they be for functionality, artistic character, or both -- whose beauty can only be revealed by peeling back layers of wood that is destined to be lost and ignored. The inner beauty created by God can't be duplicated, but it is my personal goal to enhance the wood in ways that will allow others to enjoy its beauty for years to come.
