Artist Statement
As a former art educator, my career is dedicated to the process of discovery and expression. I love breaking free from the constraint of simply imitating images and challenging the viewer’s imagination by looking beyond representation. Most pieces are inspired from my photos and focus on the beauty and atmospheric colors of vast forms of water, land, and sky “scapes”. Although I also enjoy recent avenues such as the “Tree of Life” theme and the whimsical “Parasol” series, as well as expressive renditions of animals and birds. Using a loosely applied palette knife impasto technique with layers of acrylic paint on canvas, wood, or aluminum, the resulting compositions are dynamic, energetic, and inspiring to the senses.
