Artist Statement
I have always crafted, but I never considered myself a craft artist until I found quilting and the fiber art world. I love choosing from the beautiful, modern fabrics that are now available, deciding how to put the pieces together to make a cohesive whole, then finishing with quilting the final product. I have even developed a love of ironing, which just a few years ago, I would have said was impossible. Creating a quilt from start to finish is simply soul satisfying. Quilts are warmth, family, tradition with a modern twist, creativity, relaxation, and exploration. My other developing arts--bag making, fabric dying, and pojagi panel making--create similar feelings of creativity, relaxation, and exploration. Those three words—creativity, relaxation, exploration—most accurately reflect what I feel as a fiber craft artist.
