Artist Statement
My work comes from nature and my surroundings living in a protected (land trust) forested area on the Cumberland Plateau, near Sewanee. My academic background is focused on the natural sciences with emphasis on botany and ecology. I collect leaves, flowers, twigs, etc while sauntering in natural areas and use them to "etch" images onto copper panels. This is my way to share and remind viewers of my work of the connections we have with plants (the lungs of our planet which sustains life).
