Artist Statement
Batiks are the perfect medium for my art quilts as they give so much dimension and depth to the scenes. I often incorporate my own hand-made cords from re-purposed cording and fibers of other projects. I use only the finest of threads of many varieties and often sew 3 -4 at a time for further dimension and highlights. Of course Nature is my greatest inspiration. The scenes are either real or combinations of my visions. I am now exploring making my quilts " alive"; by making them 3 - dimensional. I use wire sewn into the forms to have them become independent forms coming out of the quilts. I was juried into the North-East TN TACA this fall. Thank you!
