Artist Statement
Kayla Byrd was born and raised in Southern Appalachia and currently lives in Johnson City, TN. She received her bachelor’s degree in General Studies from East Tennessee State University, and is currently pursuing her BA in Studio Art. She spent time as a kid after school in her father’s welding shop, and has always found metal work to be intuitive and therapeutic. She enjoys exploring themes inspired by forms and colors found during her explorations in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
