Artist Statement
Nija Woods is an abstract expressionist who grew up in small town Lexington, Tn on a farmland where her life was heavily influenced by her grandmother who was a watercolorist with works all around the globe. The French inclusion in Nija’s art titles is her way of honoring her grandmother, a French teacher and one of the first black educators during the desegregation of high schools. Her main inspiration washer grandmother who utilized their time together shedding wisdom and light. Nija is also a certified color therapist with a passion for abstract art, yoga instruction, and therapeutic art life coaching. With a deep understanding of the power of color in healing, Nija is trained and certified in color therapy, and has worked with clients to help them find balance and harmony through the use of color. In addition to color therapy, Nija is also an avid abstract artist, using color psychology and innovating techniques to express her emotions and create powerful, dynamic works of art. As a certified yoga instructor, Nija is skilled in guiding students through a practice that incorporates movement, breath, and mindfulness to promote physical and emotional well-being. With a background in therapeutic art life coaching, Nija has honed her ability to help clients tap into their inner wisdom and creativity to find clarity, healing, and growth. She believes in the power of creativity and self-expression as a means of healing and transformation.
