Artist Statement
Your text is well-written and engaging. I made a few minor adjustments for clarity and flow. Here's a revised version:
“Livy, do you want to take a pottery workshop with Anita Hughes?”
It was a question that would change the course of my life. I was 8 years old, entering my third-grade summer. I said yes, fell in love with clay, and kept returning to Anita’s garage studio for years afterward. Now, over two decades later, I’m still waking up excited to be in my own pottery studio and create. It’s a deep breath of fresh air and peaceful respite. I bring that same passion and love for clay into my work today. I work both on the wheel and with slab forms, infusing a sense of flow and serenity into my pieces. My goal with my work is, first and foremost, to deeply enjoy the process. Secondly, I create pieces that invite the viewer to sit in contemplative peace and envision the community they could gather, the meals they could serve, or a moment of respite they could have with the piece.
That is the heart of my functional work. It’s my Soul Purpose.
