Making Paper Fans

Making Paper Fans

This may be my first craft experience. We were always coloring and often layered crayons onto paper and creating patterns, scratching through. Then one day we accordion-folded them and added a bobby pin so we could use them as fans. Then we had the bright idea of selling them for a nickel to our neighbors, door-to-door. We would move the bobby pin from near the end, where the paper was a useful fan, to the middle, where we said they could be a bow for one’s hair! Me and my sisters were not only creative, but entrepreneurial way back when. I’m sure I don’t have a photo of us with these, but maybe I could make one and upload a photo of it now. I’m sure you’d laugh; surely the nickel was a donation to a good cause, not a purchase of something worth a nickel!
