I came to Nashville in the late 1970’s to work for the Tennessee Arts Commission. There I worked with Master Craftsman Roy Overcast who was the Director of Crafts. It was with Roy that I attended my first Tennessee Craft Fair. I was the director of Community Arts and Kathy Tate was the director of TACA at the time and we traveled around the state with Roy to visit arts councils and craft organizations. Not only is Roy a potter and sculptor he is a collector of baskets and I can remember one of my first TACA Fair purchases was a Nancy Braski unique basket. At that time Roy was making sculptural winged bottles. I still have 2 bottles that have transitioned for over 30 years through 3 houses, 2 children, and a major mud slide along with many other favorite Overcast ceramics and memories.
