Artist Statement
For a number of years I was involved in modern dance. I taught, performed and choreographed my own work. I miss it but just can’t perform any longer. Once I stopped performing I began to turn my interest towards visual arts. Now, I make things. I make things. I throw pots and make large vessels on the potter’s wheel. I am happy knowing that people enjoy using my pottery in their daily lives. I make things. I take photographs with a Holga camera and print them in the darkroom or from a computer. Other than some basic cropping I don’t alter the images from what was originally captured from the camera. I make things. I create sculptural vessels and boxes from tiny seed beads. It’s insane and takes a long time, but it is a meditative process and each vessel form is unique to me. I make things. I know why I make them. I know why these materials and others along the way attract my attention. I just cannot (will not) put it in to words for you. I’d rather listen to what you, the viewer, may have to say, to share. That is one way that art communicates. I make things. I always have. I always will…
