Artist Statement
I HAD to do this!
You’re probably like me - you like to be stylish, but want to wear things say “ME”, and are relatively, if not completely, unique, without causing you to take out a bank loan!
So... when I came across this newer form of art called “Poured Painting” I fell in love with it. When I realized i could make the paintings as a “skin” and turn pieces of these skins into wearable art, I went nuts!!
I’ve been a full-time artist since 1995, (and actually won my first art contest 30 years before that!!) finding expression in painting canvases, theater sets, and murals, and in graphic design. Now - to a new expression of color and light! I began the process of learning what colors blend to make great wearable art. Each skin, each piece of that skin forms a small and completely unique piece of art. Even if I try, I can never duplicate exactly what I’ve created before.
So, I stamp each pendant blank before I get started with my unique Circle K stamp, so when you buy a piece of my jewelry, it’s like getting a signed piece of art!!
I’m constantly on the lookout for alternative and better jewelry bases (the pendant and earring blanks I put the paintings into) to make this unique jewelry even better, too.
And I haven’t even mentioned (yet) the great shell jewelry I’ve begun to make from oyster shells and other finds from the Gulf and Atlantic!!! So much fun!!!
