Furniture

Furniture

What: Useful household items made using a variety of materials and methods. Whether the purpose is to store items, seat guests, hang clothes, or serve a meal, craft furniture combines practicality and efficiency with the beauty of handmade art.

Materials: wood, metal, plastic, paints, etc.

History: Beginning with the use of stone around 3,000 BC, the materials used for furniture making and the purposes they served have only broadened. The elegance of early Egyptian and Greek serving stands, beds, and chairs quickly evolved into the sturdy wood-based products of Early Europe. Despite the changing history of furniture crafting, materials, and style, the goal of a perfect combination of beauty and function has remained.
