What: By transforming metal through heat, molding, and shaping, metalwork artists create large or small scale items such a jewelry, sculptures, and many other pieces.

Materials: metal, heat, dyes

History: What began as simple hammering and etching by Native Americans was quickly transformed into an advanced practice by the Spanish influence of the 18th and 19th centuries. Simple jewelry pieces and pendants escalated to the production of large-scale items like church bells, candlesticks and silverware. Today, metalwork comes in a variety of different crafts.
