Event Details:

Taking place at Julia Martin Gallery and stemming from a desire to acknowledge and celebrate differences, vases will be created by 12 ceramic artist’s in middle Tennessee and sold with clearly displayed rules explaining a month after the initial purchase, the vase must be given away. The person it is given to should be very different from the original person who bought it (different religious beliefs, different political views, different racial background, different sexual orientation, etc). The new owner is asked to live with the vase for another 30 days and then pass it on a second time to someone who is very different from them! Resulting in 3 interactions. The entire project will be documented through social media, an email survey, postcards, etc. with the hopes of show casing what happens when we are asked to engage with someone whom we may not normally go out of our way to give a gift to. In this climate of cultural divides, our goal is to help bring people together. Participating artists include: Anderson Bailey / Bean and Bailey, Jenn Cole, Eric Botbyl, Caroline Cercone, Quintin Owens, John Donovan, Julia Whitney Brown, David Taylor, Sara Wiggins, John Sellberg, Melodie Grace, and Audry Deal-McEver
