For Tennessee Craft Week 2016, InFlux – middle Tennessee’s collective for fostering innovation in ceramics – will present “12×12”. Twelve potters and ceramic artists will each create a dozen new interpretations on the theme of the mug and the dessert plate. We will collaborate with Dozen, an artisanal bakery in the burgeoning Nashville arts neighborhood of Wedgewood-Houston, whose spare modern space shows off the nuances of the handmade, be it a wheelthrown cup or a baguette hot from the oven.
At any given time twelve pots will be on display, one from each maker, that can be picked up, explored, and even purchased, and you can experience the age-old pairing of utility and enjoyment by giving your purchase its maiden voyage with one of Dozen’s scones or a fresh-brewed mug of coffee. Exhibitors will include InFlux’s David Taylor, Audry Deal-McEver, Jennifer Cole and Kelly Kessler. InFlux will also invite regional potters like Chattanooga’s Anderson Bailey who share our appetite for exploration.
