Craft Artist Olive Durant will be demonstrating the art of marbling on cloth from 10am to 4pm at the I-75 Welcome Center in Chattanooga. Fabric artist, entrepreneur, teacher and business owner of E&O Enterprises on Signal Mountain, Olive works as a textile designer, potter and exhibition coordinator. She was the past chapter President for Tennessee Craft: Southeast Chapter. The craft of marbling is an ancient art of capturing ink movement on paper, cloth, wood or any fiber source. By floating inks on the water surface, the artist is able to build surface tension between colors then capture the simple, transferrable design to fabric creating a mono-type print. The mono-type prints replicate the veins of color found in marble.
