Keynote Speaker: Richard Lou
Enter 2022 with more confidence by joining Unmute Yourself: Connecting Through Art, a workshop to inspire and motivate you to connect with your community through your art. We welcome our keynote speaker Richard Lou (pictured). As a Chicano Artist, the consistent themes he has explored are the subjugation of his community by the Dominant Culture and White Privilege. Lou has over 25 years of teaching experience in higher education, over 20 years of arts administration experience, has curated/organized over 50 exhibitions, and continues to produce and exhibit art while teaching and chairing the Department of Art at the University of Memphis.
Breakout sessions will cover topics such as website and online presence, finding your audience, forging collaborations, gallery negotiations and promotion, and social media and marketing, among others. We will conclude our time together with a dance performance from the Global Education Center.
After the workshop, from 5p.m.-7p.m. CST, our chapters across the state will host meet ups at local establishments so that workshop participants can get together and socialize! You will receive information about the meet up scheduled for your area with the Zoom invitation.
Proceeds from our professional development workshops fund our summer study opportunities for Tennessee Craft members.
