Tennessee Craft – Southwest
Tennessee Craft—Southwest (formerly MACA) covers Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby and Tipton counties and is open to everyone interested in fine craft from the beginner to the most accomplished. Artists, students, gallery owners, schools, guilds, co-ops and appreciators are welcome to join. This active chapter is committed to promoting local craft. Shoppers and collectors find our work at craft fairs, trunk shows, art galleries and museums. Handcraft for the Hungry (HftH) – Big Success
The Tennessee Craft Southwest Chapter kicked off the year with a creative fundraiser called HftH, bringing members together to support both chapter activities and the Mid-South Food Bank. In January, artists gathered at Idlewild Presbyterian Church’s pottery studio to throw and hand-build bowls, followed by a lively glazing party at Belltower Coffee and Studios. Thanks to donated space, clay, glazes, firings, and lots of artistic energy, the finished bowls were sold February 21–22 during coffee shop hours. The event was a big success, raising $2,325, with more than half going to help fight food insecurity in the Memphis area. With bowls remaining, the chapter may just keep the fun (and fundraising) going with another sale soon.
